Entries are now open for the Neptune BMC Iffley Festival of Miles 2018, which will take place on Saturday 28th July at the Iffley Road Track. The event will also incorporate a series of Roger Bannister Memorial Mile races, as part of a BMC Regional meet.
At the Oxfordshire AGM in November our long standing Treasure Kate will be standing down.
For the County to function properly we need a replacement to take over from her, if no one takes on this job County activities will be less until a Treasurer is found.
I ask you all to report back to your committees and clubs and ask if there is someone willing to take on this role. We will ask Kate to put together a job description to give anyone interested an idea of what is involved.
Please let Lyn Hopkins know of anyone interested.
These races will be run on the evening of Wednesday 18 July at Horspath track, Oxford as part of the monthly Open Meeting. It is expected that the races will be run from about 8.00pm onwards.
All entries must be via the OCAC Website page, and made by Sunday 15 July at the latest. Athletes are asked to be at Horspath by 7.15 in order to sort out the race order. The entry fees on this occasion will be those payable to the OCAC Meeting. There will be NO ENTRIES on the night.
Congratulations to Andrew Clough, upgraded to Level 3 Race Walk Judge, and to Tom Gould who has recently gained a Level 1 (Field Judge) qualification.
Due to growing popularity, and a steadily growing amount of pre-competition admin, our open graded meetings are going to become online booking only, with immediate effect.
Another fine weekend of athletics at Horspath Road was marred only by steady rain later on in Saturday’s timetable. With photofinish and electronic distance measurement now firmly established, there were some great performances on both track and field in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire joint County Championships.
This years Midland round of the ESAA combined events takes place at Tilsley Park on the weekend of the 23/24 June.
Events start on both days at 10.00am and registration for teams/individuals will be open from 9.00am.
Oxfordshire hosts this years event and entries for the 24 team places are still open (closing date is 12 June). The boys entries are particularly light. This is a great opportunity to take part in a combined event meet, representing Oxfordshire and potentially qualifying for the national finals in September.
